Windows-like quick launch toolbar in Xfce environment

  • Right clic on the panel that will contain your Windows-like quick launch toolbar
  • Panel” > “Panel Preferences…
  • Choose the “Items” tab
  • Clic on the “+” button (Add new item to this panel)
  • If you wish to create a shortcut to an existing program (listed in your Applications Menu):
    • Choose a “Launcher” (Program launcher with optional menu)
    • Clic on the “Add” button of your “Add New Items” window
    • Clic on the “Close” button of your “Add New Items” window
    • Double clic on your new “Launcher” item
    • In the “General” tab, clic on the “+” button (Add one or more existing items to the launcher)
    • Double clic on the program you wish to link to your launcher
  • If you wish to create a shortcut to a command:
    • Choose a “Launcher” (Program launcher with optional menu)
    • Clic on the “Add” button of your “Add New Items” window
    • Clic on the “Close” button of your “Add New Items” window
    • Double clic on your new “Launcher” item
    • In the “General” tab, clic on the “Empty page” button (Add a new empty item)
    • Fill the name and command fields
    • Optional: Add an icon to your shortcut by clicking on the “No icon” button (you can use any available icon or your own image file)
